Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone! With the nesting mission underway and the Christmas decorations coming down, it has taken me just a minute to get back to the blog. How was everyone's holiday? I don't consider the Season over until the New Year has passed, and January is finally here; off to a new start and a new year. I'm very glad for 2012 to have made its way here at last. This is the year that our little baby will make her way into the world! I can tell we are getting ready to jump into parent-mode because this New Year's Eve Will and I were in bed at 9:00 pm! Yes, 9:00! He had spent the day golfing with his best friend Tommy, and I had spent the day shopping with Tommy's wife Allie, and by the time we got home we were both completely exhausted! I drank my white grape juice from my wineglass so I could feel a little festive as we watched Dick Clark from our bed. We decided there was nowhere else we'd rather be. Will fell asleep around 10:30 but I stayed up until midnight and he woke up at 11:59 just in time for the countdown, so I did get my midnight kiss. They say that 2012 is the Year of the Dragon, the mightiest of the signs in Chinese astrology. This is a great year for Baby Girl to be joining us, as Dragons are passionate, independent, and excel in leadership; all things I hope Baby will encompass. (Of course, we don't put all our eggs in our astrological basket, but astrology is fun to study. I definintely exude all my Sagittarian traits.) Tomorrow we get to see Baby Girl on a sonogram and we are both very excited about that, Will especially since he had to see the last sonogram on video. I've started putting the baby's things all together in the guest room since the nursery has yet to begin, and we've accumulated a small pile of clothing and a few other things. Will told me it's just crazy to look in there and see all the baby things, but it is swiftly becoming very real to us that we will be a family of three in five short months. My mom and I went to Home Depot to pick up some paint samples, so the nursery is definitely on our minds. Her room will either be a pale pink or pale yellow. I'll probably head up to Babies R Us this week to compare some of them to the bedding (since we don't actually own the bedding yet.) Something else I am really excited about is going to register! Tomorrow's appointment will ensure that Baby is 100% girl, and I will finally feel comfortable with clicking that registry gun on all the girlie things at Target and Babies R Us. A few people (family mostly) have already been asking me where I registered because they want to start getting a few things. Hopefully this weekend we will have a list up and running for them. We are so thankful for our supportive friends and family who want to help contribute to our little Sugar Baby. She's been a long time in waiting. My good friend Siv who lives in Bergen, Norway, delivered her little girl Michelle today. We have decided that Michelle and Baby will be good friends and penpals through the years. As I love to travel to Norway as often as I can and Will works for a Norwegian oil company, there is a great possibility of Michelle and Baby getting to actually meet and play one day; if not several times over the course of their childhoods. With all the technology these days, a friendship across the globe can be very easy to maintain; as Siv and I have been friends for about eight years now. Her father and sister also live near us, so she also comes to the States rather often. So what of your New Year's resolutions? I didn't put a whole lot of thought into mine this year, as I am not smoking nor trying to lose weight, haha, but I did think of a few things. This year, I resolve to:
*Be more patient with friends and family
*To be less anxious (which makes me controlling) and continue to have faith that our Father knows our needs and will continue to provide for them (He has yet to let me down... why do I fret?)
*To be more active in our church
*To complete the nesting mission successfully
*To be the best mommy I can be; to listen and accept the help and advice from the other women in my life. I know being a mommy (especially a new one) can be taxing and at times frustrating, but I will love every minute of it; even if in that minute Baby and I are both crying, lol. I know those moments will come but I also know they will pass and I can't wait for my little girl to be here! My mom is my very best friend in the world and I can't wait to be to my little girl what my mom is to me.

I hope all of you have gotten off to a great start for 2012. We are so thankful that you continue to visit us here. Join us tomorrow for an update on Baby Girl (yes, Will, it IS a girl). I'm sure we will have a few pictures to share. Coming soon.... the debut of her name! You won't want to miss!

Have a great day everyone; God bless!
